A pleasant surprise from BT / BT Digital Monitor & Pacifier

Published by admin on November 28th, 2011 - in BT Baby Monitor Reviews

Having previously used a sturdy & reliable Philips AVENT SCD535 DECT Baby Monitor and having been given the BT version, I wasn’t expecting much as I wouldn’t associate BT with Baby Monitors’ and expected the functions and features to be a bit gimmicky.

I couldn’t have been more wrong.

The BT version did everything the Philips did, and more and all while looking more child’s room friendly, and not as much like a piece of medical equipment.

I haven’t been able to fault it and it has been given a thorough testing, as my partner loves all things tech and wanted to see exactly what it could do.

In short, it monitors audio & temperature, providing information back to an excellent parent unit that has all the buttons in sensible positions, a wipeable keypad surface, built in torch, the ability to let your child hear your voice via the handset, a timer for things like feeding times, a mute button, audible or visual alerts, lullaby feature that includes the ability to play music from an MP3 player (3.5mm jack lead included, a nice touch) and the piece de resistance is a light show for your little one, again controllable from the parent handset. The light show can be suitably angled to shine on a nearby wall, or a ceiling.

Included is a travel bag, well written instructions, an 0800 helpline if you get stuck with any of the features & rechargeable batteries for the parent unit .. you really can’t go wrong.

If you want a fully featured baby monitor, I would say buy this one. I can’t recommend it highly enough

Brillian BT Monitor in SO many ways

Published by admin on November 28th, 2011 - in BT Baby Monitor Reviews

We have been using BT baby monitors since our first child was born back in 2004 and have come to rely upon the piece of mind they provide. When this new BT monitor became available we wanted to find out how the technology has progressed since that time.

Beautiful bright colours make this BT monitor really stand out. Sound over this BT monitor is clear and both sides keeps contacted with each other at all times. There is of course a button which allows parents to speak to their child, which both reassures a child and sometimes helps them to go back to sleep.

Sound is a little lower than the older one, but not really enough to worry about. The parent unit has a torch which means you can have localised light without the need to put larger lights on – very important when trying to find something at night and not wanting to wake your child up too much.

The light show is great and displays planets and stars on the ceiling which keeps the kids entertained for ages – lots of oooohs and wooows. Music can be played on this BT monitor and isn’t restricted to a few tunes like the one from 2004. Along with the included tunes this BT monitor will also accept MP3 music input and music is much better quality these days.

Rechargeable batteries last well and are easily recharged during the day time in the parental docking station. We have been replacing our rechargeable batteries about 12-18 months due to a decrease in the time they last when fully charged.

All in all a very good baby/child monitor in so many ways.

What an AMAZING bit of kit!!!!

Published by admin on November 28th, 2011 - in BT Baby Monitor Reviews

The BT Pacifier Baby Monitor is an truly incredible bit of kit. ‘Kit’ being the perfect word, because this thing has so many gadgets, it’s more like the Knight Rider car than a baby monitor and is definitely one for the dads!

It has a light show that projects pretty patterns around the room, an MP3 input so you can play baby lullabies, a room temperature gauge, crystal clear HD sound, a night light on the main unit and a torch light on the control so you don’t have to switch on the nursery lights and well, the list goes on. Not only does the list go on, but each item on the list is pretty amazing too, and I could speak at length about each of them.

For example, the angle of the light show can be adjusted to project onto your chosen surface, and the the temperature gauge not only displays a reading on the remote, but effects the colour of the night light on the unit too – giving you a visual clue if the babies room is too hot; it changes from blue, to yellow, to orange, to red. And, as if that’s not enough, the parent unit will also beep and vibrate.

It can even be set up to your own specifications, using the `alerts’ function – this allows you to set a noise threshold, which means you’ll only be alerted to certain sounds. For example, you can set the unit so it only alerts you when baby cries, and not to coughs and splutters and small movement.

The item itself looks fantastic, with a nice bright colour scheme and fetching oval design. It’s sturdily built and really looks and feels the part sat on a bedside table. It’s quite big – bigger than you’d expect but that’s not a problem because its so feature packed.

Its simple and intuitive to use with buttons for all the major operations on both the remote and the main unit, and there’s safety features too; the unit flashes to highlight if the connection between the remote and main unit has been broken for instance.

This is a truly first class product that is well thought out, and works well in the field. If you can afford it – get it. You won’t regret it. It also comes with a travel pouch so you can take it with you on your travels too. And if like me you love your gadgets, you’ll find yourself fighting over whose turn it is to check on the baby.

It’s expensive, but you really get what you pay for with this product, and I’m pretty sure the the safety of your child’s worth the extra outlay, no?

Fantastic, I wish we had got this from the start!,

Very qood quality. Sound is crystal clear. The twins love the lightshow. The melodies this has are great, even has hoover and vacuum sounds which are fantastic for white noise to soothe colic. Easy to plug in the mp3 player. The temp gauge is very clear, so easy to see if the room is too warm. Love the talk back feature, great for partner to say he needs help and you reply that you will be there in a moment lol.
All in all we are very impressed, we got the BT Pacifier Baby Monitor after first getting a Fisher Price moniter that was very disappointing, the fisher price moniter had very bad sstatic and we couldn’t hear the babies. We have no worries with this moniter, can even hear them breathing. Very good value for money.

The BT Pacifier Baby Monitor Does So Much

Published by admin on November 28th, 2011 - in BT Baby Monitor Reviews

The night light acts like a gro-egg so you can tell how hot it really is at a glance, it has a variety of tunes (not just lullabies, classical music and white noise for newborns), the light show is simple yet effective with slow fades and it spans across the ceiling. The sound is fantastic – I had an angelcare monitor before which I loved but there was so much interference and it kept cutting out on me so only ended up using the sensor mat – this has excelled itself, crystal clear sound which barely any static at all. There are some features I don’t really ‘get’ yet like the crying alert (as you’d hear your little on cry anyway) but I guess it could be useful for some people. If BT released something identical to this but with a sensor mat it would be THE perfect monitor, completely flawless. I really do love this monitor and even though it’s pricey it’s completely worth the money as it saves you buying that gro-egg/slumber bear/light show you’ve been eyeing up. A wonderful buy.

BT Pacifier – Great Little Gadget

Published by admin on November 28th, 2011 - in BT Baby Monitor Reviews

I chose the bt pacifier monitor because it looked totally different to the last one I had for my oldest daughter. When it arrived my first impression was WOW!! I have to say the picture on here does not do it justice, it just looks ace. My husband even said it looked pretty awesome, and he pays little or no interest at all in stuff like this. The first thing I have to say is that the light show is pretty cool for such a little gadget, we used to have one of those Winnie the pooh things that went on the cot, but this is far superior. I have not tried the mp3 player yet but then I don’t have any lullaby’s on the ipod that would suit being plugged in. The sound quality on the receiver is crystal clear and it does the job it’s supposed to do. Would recommend this product to all as its multifunctional, portable, rechargeable and just looks like one of the coolest monitors I have seen.

Baby Monitor

Susan asks…

When did you stop listening to the baby monitor?

I have a 1 year old and jsut wondering when people usually stop with the baby monitor. I’m not ready yet!!

admin answers:

My kids are now 16 and 18, If I were smart, I would still have them in the rooms hidden.

Caroline asks…

When did you stop using your baby monitor?

What age was your baby/toddler when you stopped using a baby monitor? If you are still using one when do you plan on stopping? Are there any specific reasons you have stopped or are still using? I am still using one and my family laughs at me – my baby is 20 months old.

admin answers:

My son is 6 1/2, and we used ours until just recently. His bedroom was all the way across the house from us (one-story and very spread out), and he would still sometimes wake up in the night to use the bathroom and not be able to find the door to his room (he doesn’t like a night light) and would yell for us to help him. We wouldn’t have been able to hear him without the monitor. When we moved, his room is still across the house but it’s two-story so he’s really not that far and he’s done fine without it. My mother-in-law was always asking me if I’d still be using it when he’s 15. LOL Use it until YOU think it’s time to stop. :)

Mandy asks…

what age do you think you can stop using a baby monitor at night?

im having another baby and my son will be 16months old, should i stop using a monitor at this age, he sleep right thru the nite every nite. Or can you buy a double baby monitor?

admin answers:

My sons 17 months and I plan on using ours until he can get out of bed himself and tell me something is wrong.
If I didn’t use it I’d be constantly worrying that he was crying and upset and I couldn’t hear him.

You can always use two monitors when your next baby comes along. Thats what I intend to do.

Helena asks…

To Parents who have a Baby Monitor with Video Screen?

What kind of baby monitor with video screen do you have? What do you like and dislike about it? Can you pan around the room with it? Would you recommend your monitor for other parents? Where did you buy it and about how much did it cost? Thanks!

admin answers:

We opted to not get this type of monitor – hearing the little guy was enough – we didn’t need to watch him all the time (it would have just made us paranoid and we would have gotten less sleep than we did.)

Cindy asks…

When did you stop using a baby monitor?

I have an 8 month old and am pregnant with our second (due in October). I can’t imagine that I’ll be ready to stop “monitoring” our then 16 month old by the time this next baby is born so I’m thinking about purchasing another baby monitor. Is this a good idea or am I being over-cautious? When did you stop using a baby monitor with each child?

admin answers:

My son is three, going on four, and I still use the baby monitor. My husband and I are in the master bedroom on the opposite side of the hallway and I like to hear my son if he needs me at night. He almost always sleeps all through the night with no interruptions, but it’s more for my peace of mind then his.

Where can i buy a baby monitor for deaf parents

Published by admin on May 12th, 2011 - in BT Baby Monitor Reviews

Cindy asks…

where can i buy a baby monitor for deaf parents?

hi out there….my sister is profoundly deaf and about to have her first baby. this is something she is really worried about, she needs a baby monitor that would alert her to the baby crying. unfortunately she lives abroad and would not be able to buy something like this, so i would have to send it to her…but i have no clue as to where to buy one in the uk, all the sites i have seen have been american! any ideas?
cheers!

admin answers:

I got this monitor from Target that vibrates: http://www.target.com/Graco-Digital-Deluxe-iMonitor-Monitor/dp/B0009UBSFC/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&keywords=baby%20monitor&searchSize=30&searchView=grid5&searchNodeID=1038576%7C1287991011&searchPage=1&fromGsearch=true&sr=1-2&qid=1285350209&rh=&searchBinNameList=subjectbin%2Cprice%2Ctarget_com_primary_color-bin%2Ctarget_com_size-bin%2Ctarget_com_brand-bin&searchRank=target104545&frombrowse=0 (Trust me, while sleeping the lights don’t do much…at all!)

A few downfalls with it, though… It’s wireless but if you have too much in the house that is wireless then it will not work. (I live in a 700 sq ft house and it won’t work from the back to the front. I use it while camping and it will work for about a mile!) Also the receiver doesn’t vibrate when it’s on the base so she may have problems keeping it charged. (You can plug it in from the receiver and not use the base but I’m not sure if it will vibrate that way either.)

I also have profound hearing loss. Take it from me – try to find a model that VIBRATES, not just the lights. Lights work great if you’re awake but those little machines aren’t going to give off enough light when you’re sleeping to wake you up.

Jemima asks…

When did you remove the baby monitor from your childs room?

My daughter is 8 months old so she’s obviously way too young to remove the monitor and I probably wouldn’t consider it before she was 2 or 3, but I was thinking about it and I don’t really know at what age the baby monitor is typically done away with.

admin answers:

I know we’re in the minority, but I still have monitors in both my girls’ room (ages 5 and 6) and in my son’s room (age 2). They’re there mostly so that they don’t have to yell for us if they need something and we’re downstairs. Having the monitors helps me determine if I need to intervene in an argument while they’re playing, allows me to hear a child who needs help in the bathroom, and generally helps me be more aware of what’s going on upstairs while I’m downstairs.

We don’t use the monitors once we go to bed since all the bedrooms are right next to each other. Sometimes I wonder if I should take the monitor out of my girls’ room since it’s clearly not a necessity, but they don’t seem to mind it. They know it’s there, and they know we can hear them if they call for us quietly (which keeps them from yelling and waking up their brother if he’s asleep).

Heck, I use the monitor to call things down to my husband or the kids, too — like my own personal PA system. ;-)

I think it just depends on the size/layout of your house and what works for you and your family. There’s no right or wrong answer here.

Kirstie asks…

Any suggestions on a survalence camera used for a baby monitor?

want to use a survalence camera for a baby monitor to get multiple usage. Any help?

admin answers:

I have never used one, but thinking about if for my twins. Here is a link that has a bunch of them.

Lynn asks…

Do you ever leave your newborn in another room without a baby monitor?

Do any new mothers out there ever leave their baby in another room without a baby monitor? I am not a mother, but I heard that someone else did this and I dont’ think that I would ever do this. I wanted to know if it would just be me being overprotective or do a lot of mothers do this?

admin answers:

As long as I am in a room where I can hear her then No I do not turn it on. My house is pretty open so I can pretty much here her most places. I do carry the monitor with me when I go to the bathroom or shower and she is asleep.

Rachel asks…

Is it possible to watch baby monitor from your computer?

From a standard baby monitor system (summer infant), not a webcam… Is there a way to pick up the frequency?

admin answers:

I don’t see why not but the problem is that you cannot exactly ‘tune things’ in this way. The issue is not signal itself but FCC standards. They tell the companies to put certain devices on certain frequencies for operation. That being said it prevents overlap. However that doesn’t prevent too much. Using some Linux software you may be able to hack your wireless router into transmitting that signal to your computer if you have one, theoretically. It is also plausible that the company that made the device may have thought about this already and could have a software program available for use.

All I’m saying is it could be done but whether or not this screws up the router later or not if done by a hack is something you will have to decide on dealing with.

My advice: Get a web cam that can link up via ethernet and yes they make such a beast as a security camera. These have similar sensitive microphones like what you would find in baby monitors. Most though start off around $79.99.

Shelley asks…

baby monitor?

Can you suggest a decent baby monitor for under 50? The reviews I’ve read in the 50 range haven’t been great but any suggestions would be helpful.
I was looking at just a traditional monitor. I would like to spend under 50.

Natalie answers:

I have the BT 150 digital baby monitor. It was around the 50 mark and I’ve been using it for 8 months with minimal problems. It gets really good reviews considering it’s price. Once or twice I have gotten a little static sound from it but it went away quickly and only came from the parent unit I keep downstairs (basically the part that is upstairs with my baby has never had that problem). I do a lot of product research before I buy and it seems when it comes to non-video monitors even the pricey ones have problems. You can view more reviews and best prices HERE..

Don asks…

Baby monitor recommendations?

Hi,
Just wondering if anyone has good/bad reviews of other baby monitors before I buy?

Thanks!

admin answers:

Try the Tomy Digital Video Plus Monitor TDV450 Digital Baby Video Monitor
. Its very nice :-) Good sound quality.

Kylee asks…

Questions on some baby products?

Okay, so now that I am registering for some items I’ve got a few questions, and want opinions and suggestions.

My cousin is letting me borrow the moses basket she has for her son….I could have sworn I saw stands for these on babiesrus and target… am I crazy or what? If these baskets don’t have stands how do I use it as the baby bed for the first month or so?

I am looking at breast pumps, and they all seem so expensive…even the expensive ones have bad reviews. What brand do you moms use and reccomend that’s under $200?

Crib bumper or no? I’ve read some things that they can be dangerous and the baby‘s head can get caught under it and then they suffocate? Haven’t crib sets come with bumpers always? Do you use/reccomend using them?

Finally…what is the best baby monitor for a small home? We live in a one level, 100sq foot home. We don’t need anything fancy, but again I can’t seem to find ones with good reviews.

admin answers:

Hi Kylee,

I will address your baby monitor part of your question.

As you can probably tell from this site we concentrate on the BT 150 digital baby monitor, and for a good reason. I beleve it to be one of the best baby monitors  around for its practicality and price, dont take my word for it, there are over 300 customer reviews HERE.

Charlie asks…

Does anyone know of a heart monitor that works during pregnancy?

I had seen the Babies-R-Us one had bad reviews I was hoping someone knew of a sucessful product.
where can i get a heart monitor that works?

Claire answers:

I found a good one on Amazon.co.uk that I’ve been using and I find the heartbeat every time. It’s only £22 and as over 250 reviews, so if it works then awesome, obviously you haven’t shelled out tons of money and if it doesn’t.. Well obviously you haven’t shelled out a ton of money! Lol. I love it, and you can hook it up to a computer or your stereo system at home to let everyone else hear the baby. Or use a good pair of headphones and listen on your own. I just use a little bit of lotion or baby oil and works good :) I can find the heartbeat within a minute. Never once have I ‘not found it’ so I haven’t been stressed out.. And obviously if you don’t find it, don’t stress either the baby could be laying in a weird position. It’ll be quick sounding… Like a train or a horse, much faster than your own. I’ll post the link below!

Questions And Answers On Baby Monitors With Camera

Published by admin on May 10th, 2011 - in BT Baby Monitor Reviews

Kirstie asks…

Baby Cam/Monitor Questions?

I have a baby monitor/camera and was wanting to know how safe it is. I have seen programs where people with back-up cams have picked up monitors in peoples homes. Is this true and if so, what can I do to protect my home or make it harder to pick it up outside of my home.

admin answers:

The same thing can happen with audio-only monitors, where the sounds from your baby’s room is picked up by another set of monitors or even a cordless phone. There should be different frequency settings to avoid this, but I’m not sure about video monitors. We always stuck with the simple audio type and they worked fine.

Helena asks…

is a baby video monitor camera of 900mHz (with night vision)dangerous if placed within one foot of a baby?

admin answers:

If you have a nightlight in the room, you don’t need one with night vision. I think those are made to be used from across the room anyway.

Chris asks…

What Should I Get My Sister For Her Baby Shower?

My sister is pregnant with her first child, and despite economic times I really wanted to get her something nice and memorable. I was thinking of a video baby monitor with a camera and television screen, so she could actually see what was going on with her child. I was also thinking of getting her one of those digital video cameras to tape some memories of her kid, parents love that.

I think each gift would be nice, but I don’t know what would be a good one for me to get. What do you think would be a good gift?

admin answers:

Something practical would be nice. Honestly, out of the two options you gave I would go with the latter. I basic monitor works just as well (heck, if she lives in tight quarters, she might not even need one. Believe me, a baby will make sure you can hear it cry). Something like a baby swing would be nice, also. Or a bunch of things she will need like diapers, baby wipes, different baby medicines, etc.

Joseph asks…

Why would parents who use controlled crying/CIO have baby monitors? Why bother listening if you’re not coming?

I know that baby monitor isn’t just for monitoring cries, but also their well-being, especially the ones with cameras. But I’m sure that people whose babies have health problem to be monitored, wouldn’t practice controlled crying/cio.

What I’m wondering is, why would people (with normal healthy babies) who firmly believe in CC/cio bother to put up a baby monitor anyway? It’s not like they’re going to do anything about their babies’ cry.

admin answers:

So that when the baby finally passes out from exhaustion they know it!
It’s called lazy parenting. CIO is ridiculous and archaic!
Babies cry for a reason, even if it just means being nurtured and held.
I’m sure I’ll get a bunch of thumbs down for this answer but I wouldn’t condone any other way….
My son will NEVER be left to just Cry it out. He will always know that when he needs something, Mommy is coming, not just leaving him to be ignored. They have a whole lifetime to self soothe and be independent but babies/children aren’t independent creatures, thats why they have parents, they need us! They cannot manipulate!
And of course this method works, eventually a child will stop crying when they know no one is going to come…. Why keep crying if nobody hears? Imagine being left in a dark, cold room alone and being completely ignored…. Crying is their only voice and it almost always means something, even if they just want Mommy or Daddy.
Instinctively a mothers brain has chemicals that go off when her child cries, if you can lay there and ignore and resist those triggers that tell you to go to your baby then maybe you shouldn’t be a parent in the first place. Sounds harsh I know, but its a heck of a lot harsher to let a little baby lay there and cry all night.

BT150 is so clear you can use it to monitor two babies in separate rooms!

Published by admin on April 29th, 2011 - in BT Baby Monitor Reviews

The BT 150 is a brilliant, brilliant monitor. The sound is so clear, it’s as if my toddler and newborn are in the same room as I am (and we have a 2,000 sq foot house!). I saw some negative reviews, but I have no idea how this falls short of being an awesome monitor. Sure, it has some gadgets on it that I don’t use (the lullabye option, nightlight.. etc), but I love that you can turn it on on ONE side (the parent unit) and the other side (baby unit) turns on as well- no need to plug/unplug turn it on on both ends! Plus, when charged, you can just take the parent with you to your bedroom or other room, and it lasts for 18+ hours! It’s unobtrusive, great design, lightweight… I honestly have no misgivings about the BT 150 Digital Baby Monitor, and I’m a VERY picky mum. Highly reccommend getting it.

The BT 150 is our second baby monitor purchase after buying an analogue one, not realising how much interference there was.

Published by admin on April 29th, 2011 - in BT Baby Monitor Reviews

This was our second baby monitor purchase after buying an analogue one, not realising how much interference there was. This monitor far exceeded our expectations and is so clear you can even hear baby breathing clearly. Has some fab functions most of which can be controlled through the parent unit so no need to disturb baby. Having just moved our daughter in her own room this is invaluable to us now and I feel comforted at night knowing how clear this is.

Bought the BT 150 after reading the reviews

Published by admin on April 29th, 2011 - in BT Baby Monitor Reviews

To be honest i bought the BT 150 baby monitor after reading the related reviews.

When i tried for the first time i was amazed. The clarity of the sound and the long range that can covered satisfied my expectations 100%. Have in mind that i live in a two floor house with a lot of blocks in the way from the transmitter to
receiver.

I consider the price fair in relation with the quality of the product.

The BT 150 Digital Baby Monitor sound quality is fantastic

Published by admin on April 29th, 2011 - in BT Baby Monitor Reviews

I originally had a Tommee Tippee Suresound Deluxe but hated it and bought this BT 150 model instead. It is fantastic. The sound quality is fantastic and I like that you can turn the sensitivity up and down so we can choose not to hear every little snort and snore our son makes. (he’s a noisy sleeper). You can turn the volume up and down on the parent unit, and it vibrates so you can ‘feel’ if your child is yelling while you’re mowing the lawn with it in your pocket. The reception is fantastic; the signal has never dropped out even in our 3 storey thick-walled Victorian house, and it still gets the signal 70 metres down the end of the garden in our brick summerhouse. I like the temperature reading which you can see from the parent unit, I like the 5 different lullabies which you can turn on and off by remote. And the batteries last for ages and recharge easily by putting the unit back on the parent stand. I definitely recommend this monitor – yes it’s a little more pricey than many on the market, but it’s well worth it.

BT 150 is a sturdy and well designed baby monitor with a vast collection of handy functions

Published by admin on April 29th, 2011 - in BT Baby Monitor Reviews

The BT Baby Monitor 150 is a well designed baby monitor incorporating a whole host of handy functions to help parents with keeping an eye (or ear) on their little ones once they have been put down for the night.

Both core sections of the monitor are constructed using a thick plastic casing giving them a sturdy exterior in case of any accidental knocks or droppages. Both sections need to be placed relatively close to a plug socket so that they can be plugged in (the leads that are supplied give about a metre’s worth of length).

The monitor includes a temperature gauge which alerts the parents when the room’s temperature is either higher or lower than the pre-set temperature range (e.g. between 14 and 23 degrees centigrade). The pre-set temperature range can be easily adjusted, allowing for total control for the parents.

The monitor has five different lullabies it can play to your baby/babies, which each last for 15 minutes on a constant loop. You can even record your own lullaby, lasting a maximum of 2 minutes. This is a nice little feature for all those aspiring musicians out there or simply for parents who would like their baby/babies to be soothed to sleep by their voices. You can even plug in an MP3 player or other similar device and have the monitor play music from that instead. There’s also a `talk’ function which basically acts as a one-sided walkie-talkie between the base unit and the parent unit (great fun for scaring the hell out of your partner when they go to check up on the baby-babies).

Other handy features are a comforting nightlight to help the baby/babies get to sleep with. A torch on the parents unit (this is a lot handier than you would have thought). A `paging’ function for when you undoubtedly misplace the parents portable unit. There’s also a timer, so that you can monitor/schedule how long you want the baby/babies to sleep for. Finally the unit includes a digital clock, which to be honest we haven’t used once – but maybe others do!

All of the alerts and speakers can have their volumes and/or sensitivities adjusted, including using the vibrate facility (like with a mobile phone). The parents unit also comes with an incredibly handy clip so that it can be easily secured on to a belt or item of clothing. This means you can get on with things around the house without having to remember to constantly pick up the monitor.

The batteries in the parent monitor are automatically re-charged on the charging cradle each time you put it back on it. The rechargeable batteries should give up to 14 hours of continuous performance. The parent unit takes 2 x AA rechargeable batteries (supplied) and the monitor unit can take 4 x AA Alkaline batteries (not supplied) if it wasn’t going to be plugged in to a mains socket.

BT 150 battery life is phenomenal

Published by admin on April 29th, 2011 - in BT Baby Monitor Reviews

I bought the BT 150 Digital Baby Monitor about 4 months ago after giving up on the Tomy Platinum after having two Tomy units that broke over 18 months (if you’re deciding between the the BT 150 and the Tomy do read my review on that item).

I was a little reluctant to buy a product that BT have stuck their name on as the BT brand just means ‘mediocre’ to me but I’m glad I overcame my irrational brand prejudice as the BT150 is just BRILLIANT. It’s solid, the features and product design are well thought out and the battery life is phenomenal, which is such a huge help when you’re travelling with your baby monitor. A small point but indicative of the attention to detail is that the baby light is a warm yellow rather than a cold blue as on the Tomy (which was nasty and felt like one of those UV fly traps left on in shops over night).

It’s probably got more features than I need but hardly a negative particularly given it’s well priced. After 18 months of being disappointed and annoyed by the Tomy I’m just delighted with this BT 150 digital baby monitor product. It’s cured me of my brand prejudice to the extent that I’ve just bought a BT internet radio.

The BT 150 Digital Baby Monitor – Is it Value For Money?

Published by admin on April 24th, 2011 - in BT Baby Monitor Reviews

Whether you have got a new born baby or are expecting your new arrival, sleepless nights and tiredness are never far from the conversation. Getting the right baby monitor is essential. There has been a lot of raving reviews about the BT 150 digital baby monitor from hundreds of happy parents but is it really as good as it sounds?
One of the problems many monitors have is that they give off an annoying hiss and tend to pick up every little movement. This can destroy an anxious parents nights sleep as you will stir every time there is a noise even if there is no need. Your baby may be sleeping soundly and simply moving around, which they do a lot!
A good baby monitor should have the ability to filter out this hissing which sounds rather like white noise and only pick up on relevant noises like crying and distress. Another invaluable feature that a good quality baby monitor will have is a two way talk system built in. This means that if your baby or toddler wakes up in the night and just needs some reassurance, you can speak to them via the monitor to give them words of comfort without having to physically get out of bed. This is much easier than having to get up and visit your child and lets you get back to your valuable sleep far more quickly.
A good range is essential as well or you may find that you are totally tied to a short distance so catching up on a bit of gardening or relaxing in your summerhouse is out of the question unless you are prepared to keep going back to your house every five minutes to check your baby is still asleep.
Night lights and lullabies are also much valued features of a high quality baby monitor as they can both provide soothing comfort and aid night time feeds and changes without overstimulating your baby to wake fully.
The BT 150 digital baby monitor has all of these qualities combined with a crystal clear clarity of sound. Click here to find out more, read independent reviews and compare deals on the BT 150 digital baby monitor.

Award Winning BT Digital Baby Monitor Model 150

Published by admin on April 24th, 2011 - in BT Baby Monitor Reviews

It’s a real joyous time when you are first told that you are going to be proud parents. From that moment on, you think of virtually nothing else, you start planning the decorating of the nursery room, the colours, the cot and you start to look for different things on how you want to dress the room. But probably one of the first things you think of is a BABY MONITOR. Both you and your partner want what’s best for the safety of your baby once it is born into the world. You want reassurance that once your baby is asleep either during the day or evening, you want to know that baby can be monitored whilst you are away in another room or at a distance away down the garden. This is where the BT 150 Digital Baby Monitor answers all your questions.

There are many monitors on the market these days, but before you choose one, consideration should be given as to what you want from the monitor to monitor your baby safely. You want a monitor that will allow you to hear your baby breathe or cry and you want to be able to hear any signal that could tell you if there could be anything wrong. The monitor must be reliable with a clear no interference reception. You require a monitor that will continue to work and monitor your baby from a distance. The BT 150 Digital Baby Monitor meets all these considerations and more.

This product has an affordable price tag attached to it. The sections of the product consist of a parent monitor and a baby monitor, both exteriors are constructed of a thick plastic casing making them very sturdy in case of accidental knocks or they are dropped. The parent monitor has a belt clip which allows you to carry it anywhere you want by attaching it to your belt or pocket. This allows you to carry on with your chores and monitor whilst baby is asleep even from a range of 300 meters outdoors. Another feature is that it has a vibrating alert on the parent monitor that can be used whilst away from the baby or if you have visitors to your house. It has a torch so that there is minimum disturbance should you have to tend to your baby during the night. The parent monitor batteries are automatically recharged from the cradle connected to the main electricity supply each time to put it back in.

The baby monitor has many features. It has 5 different lullabies each lasting 15 minutes when played in a constant loop. This provides a soothing relaxing atmosphere for baby to go to sleep, plus a comforting night light with adjustable brightness. You can also record your own lullaby and through an Aux point connect an MP3 player. The temperature gauge will alert the parent unit should baby’s room temperature go higher or lower than the pre-set temperature. The can be adjusted allowing total control by the parents.

Another major feature of the BT 150 Digital Baby Monitor is that it has a two way talk system built into the units so that if your baby wakes up during the night, you can give some reassurance by speaking to them via this facility without having to physically get out of bed. There is a timer feature that you can monitor or schedule how long you want your baby to sleep for.

Both parent and baby monitors can operate on battery power if you so wish. The displays on both monitors are crystal clear whilst the volume and sensitivity alerts are fully adjustable.

The BT 150 Digital Baby Monitor has many qualities and features that other monitors don’t have. It is a fully functional baby monitor at an affordable price and most importantly of all, will ensure your baby’s safety and will give you reassurance that should there be any problem, you will be alerted to it.

BT 150 Digital Baby Monitor Review

Published by admin on April 24th, 2011 - in BT Baby Monitor Reviews

If you have just had a child, you will do anything you can to make sure they are as safe as they can be. I am sure that at some point you have thought about buying a digital baby monitor. There are so many choices out there for digital baby monitor buyers, which can only be a good thing because you are bound to find a product that meets your needs.
Digital baby monitors are an ideal way to check on your baby, allowing you to get on with your day to day tasks, with the ability to listen to your baby, or watch your baby on a screen. A baby monitor will alert you if your baby needs help, giving you peace of mind.
The BT 150 Digital Baby Monitor is in my opinion the best available on the market.
Setting up the baby monitor is a piece of cake, just plug it in and away you go. The portable requires a charge of roughly 12 hours at first, but this can be left on during the day ready for use when you need it most
Second to none, is the sound quality. There is no interference and no crackling or breaking up. The sound is so clear that you can hear every breath even when busy doing something else. This provides you with peace of mind knowing that your precious one is safe at all times.
You have the ability to adjust the sensitivity and set the monitor to flash and vibrate for when you have company. The range is impressive and if for some reason at anytime the units lose contact you receive an alarm to let you know.
Other nice features include built in lullabies, a temperature monitor and a night night to help you check on your baby without disturbing them.
In my opinion the BT 150 Digital Baby Monitor is the best there is. It is user friendly, packed with functions and great value.

Best Baby Monitor

Published by admin on April 17th, 2011 - in BT Baby Monitor Reviews

Thomas asks…

What is the best baby monitor?

I have a Graco and it makes a lot of “white noise”, also goes red on random times and doesn’t even connect with the baby‘s room. I am looking for the most reliable monitor- regardless of cost. Any suggestions?

admin answers:

I also have the angel care monitor and it works great. I have never had problems with it. I used it with my daughter 4 years ago and now using the monitor part for my son who is 16 months old now. I used it from the time he was born as well. Basically we have used it for 4 years now and it still works great.

Mike asks…

What’s the best baby monitor? I have trouble with static.?

We have the AngelCare monitor, but when it is on, we get terrible static. It may be interference with some Plantronics 900 mghz headseat phones we need for work. Is there a brand that works on a different frequency?

admin answers:

We use a 5.8ghz cordless phone rather then a baby monitor. It doesn’t have the same problems that a baby monitor would since it’s on a different frequency. Great reception, only problem is we can’t use the telephone while monitoring.

Nancy asks…

What is the best baby video monitor around $100?

I need one that’s clear and has a decent picture. I just really want to get the cheapest one I could but I don’t want to compromise quality..links would be greatly appreciated, thanks!

admin answers:

I got the summer day and night. It was a bit more than $100 but I am happy with it. The thing is that we really only use it at night, so the color aspect of it really doesn’t matter much for us.
We bought ours new on ebay and saved about $50 off the price which got it close to the $100 you want to pay.

Richard asks…

what’s the best of the best babyphone / baby intercom / baby monitor thingy ?

what’s the best of the best babyphone / baby intercom / baby monitor thingy ? I’ve heard that I need to buy something with DECT and that there are also systems that monitor the baby‘s breathing etc… what’s the top of the line system ?

admin answers:

I was also looking for a good baby monitor, and my husband and I wanted a combined video/audio one.

After much researching around and reading lots of reviews, we’re going to get the:
Swann SW233-WDM VBM-330 Digital Video Baby Monitor
It costs about AUD$260.

These were our criteria for selection:
Audio – good microphone
Color video and reasonable screen size
No interference or use of multiple channels
Night vision (at least a few meters)
Thermometer a plus
Multiroom monitoring if possible
Portable receivers
Transmitter – non-battery powered
Motion sensor for stop of movement
Underwriters Labs mark for safety
Intercom
No LED flahes on camera
No Auto-mute

The Swann model does not necessarily fulfil all the criteria, but the most important ones it does fulfill, and it fulfills the most of our criteria.

Hope that helps! P.S. Swann is very good in surveillance technology.

Rachel asks…

Best baby video monitor?

I would like to get a video monitor for our baby daughter as we are planning to move her into her own room very soon.

I have looked up different monitors but it’s a minefield! I just want the best there is and I don’t mind if it costs more, can anyone recommend a good video monitor?.

Thanks, Leah.

admin answers:

Anything you choose, I would not recommend anything wireless. This gives thief’s a clear view in to your baby’s room. The local news here did a big story on that recently. I know this drives up the costs but its better to be safe than sorry.
