Is it safe to let my 10 week old baby sleep on her front?
HIya I am having trouble getting my 10 week old baby girl to sleep at night, she is fine during the night after her feeds she goes straight back down no problem. A friend has advised that her little boy settles better on his front, my little sister slept on her front from birth and was perfectly fine, Im just nervous about trying it with my baby. I have a camera on her in her room and the monitor clips to my clothing and sits on my bedside unit at night so I can keep an eye on her. Has anyone else found putting their baby on their front to sleep more successful. Her bedtime routine is bath at 7pm, warm bottle at 7.30pm, a little cuddle then bed at around 8ish, but she usually only finally gos to sleep at about 10pm, she won’t let me put her down and just cries and whinges to be picked back up. Any ideas? lol it would be great to be able to use that time to actually do some housework as she doesn’t give me much chance during the day xxx
No don’t think she is collicky :/ my mates baby had colic and screamed and screamed but mines different its more of a whingy cry because she don’t want to go to bed yet lol. But it isn’t doing much to help me get her in a routine.

Instead of putting her down to sleep on her tummy, try different things in her routine that might be keeping her awake. When you give her the bottle at night, make sure its in a dark room with no bright lights(a nightlight is ok) where there isnt any background noise. Give her cuddles then to sleep in her basket/cot once winded. Try not to rock her to sleep in your arms as she will expect this when she is older too. You will find she should be really sleepy and go off pretty easy. I had this trouble for the first 2 months of my lil boy, and found out I was doing it all wrong by letting him fall asleep in my arms, with the tv on in the background.

summer infant video monitor hums?
I just bout a hand held Summer infant baby video monitor 2.5″ screen. When I plugged the camera into the outlet I noticed it has a humming/buzzing noise. Is this normal or is it defect? And has anyone had any problems with this?
Thanks!

Not sure about this specific monitor but I know a lot of monitors get a humming noise if you have wireless internet and stuff around the house. It’s something to do with analogue monitor technology and digital household equipment.

How do you keep baby warm/comfy in crib if you’re not supposed to use blankets?
At this point, I’m co-sleeping but I do put my baby in her crib during the day for naps. Because I watch her closely with the use of a camera monitor, I have been placing her in the crib with a blanket. I’ve read that you’re not supposed to place baby in crib with blankets, stuffed toys and that crib bumpers shouldn’t be used. This seems like an awfully cold and lonely place to sleep for a little baby which is why I prefer the co-sleeping (go ahead all you anti-cosleeping advocates..I fully expect your disapproving comments)….anyway, I’m preparing to use the crib sometime in the next few months but I’m wondering how moms keep their babies warm at night? I know there are special sleeper blankets and onesies…is this what you use?
Thanks so much!

I use crocheted afghans. They have holes all over them so they are breathable and i was told they are safer than a comforter. Either you can have someone make them for you or you can buy them at craft sales… I know alot of people use the sleep bags though but mine like to be swaddled so we use the crocheted blankets to wrap them up.

Do you let your baby sleep in your bed when he/she is sick?
Just curious.
I co-slept with my baby until she was 7 months old and transitioned to the crib fairly easy. She’s come down with something and is running a low-grade fever (100-101) and I’m kind of nervous at the idea of her not being in arm’s reach during the night. I’m fearful though of her not transitioning back to the crib after a few nights back in bed with Mommy (she’s 9 months now)….I have a camera monitor but that doesn’t replace me being able to reach out and feel her body/forehead to check her body temperature.
I’m also a little freaked-out because a woman I work with just lost her little boy (2 years old) who had what they thought was a flu and he passed away!
What do you do when your baby is sick?
admin answers:
Yep! Definitely. We’re not officially co-sleepers, but when our boy is sick, he stays in our bed. I like to keep an eye on him and be able to check on him throughout the night without having to go into his room and possibly disturb him.
We also have him sleep with us when it’s hot out, since we have an AC in our bedroom, and rather than putting one in his room, he just sleeps with us!
The longest period he’s been in bed with us was maybe 5 nights in a row, but we have been lucky and haven’t had a problem with him going back and forth between crib and bed.
How scary about the woman you work with! So sad.
